Fathers Have Rights. Presence Over Paychecks.

Reggie’s Urban Restoration believes that strong fathers build strong communities. We are dedicated to the principle that a father’s value to his child is not determined by his bank account. We exist to empower, educate, and restore fathers, ensuring they understand their rights, have access to mental health support, and possess the literacy and resources needed to overcome systemic bias and lead their families effectively.

Program Focus Areas

1. Paternal Rights & Custody Advocacy (“Fathers Have Rights”)

We challenge the systemic bias in family courts that often defaults custody to mothers and penalizes fathers for financial hardship. Being low-income does not strip a man of his constitutional right to be a parent.

  • Combating “Checkbook Justice”: We advocate against the “default to mom” culture (common in systems like Boston’s family courts) where fathers are shut out simply because they lack means.
  • Custody Literacy: We educate fathers on the difference between Legal and Physical custody and help them navigate the court system so they do not sign away their rights out of confusion or intimidation.

2. Mental Health & Emotional Wellness

Men often suffer in silence. We provide a safe harbor for fathers to process the stress of co-parenting, systemic unfairness, and grief.

  • Therapy Referrals: We connect fathers with culturally competent therapists to help process trauma and stress.
  • Ending the Stigma: Creating safe spaces for men to discuss their emotional health without judgment, ensuring they are mentally and emotionally whole for their children.

3. Community Resource Navigation

If a father is denied custody because of housing or income instability, we work to fix the root cause so he can stand in court with confidence.

  • Holistic Support: We act as a bridge to community assistance programs (housing, employment, food security) to remove the barriers that courts use to deny custody.
  • Case Management: We help fathers access government and non-profit aid they may not know they qualify for, ensuring they have the stability required to co-parent.

4. Fathers’ Literacy & Education

Knowledge is power. We equip fathers with the tools to advocate for themselves and their children.

  • System Navigation: Teaching fathers how to read and understand legal documents, child support regulations, and school records.
  • Financial Literacy: Providing guidance on budgeting and resource management to maximize their ability to provide

The Fatherhood Restoration Pillar

We fight for the right of every father to be present in his child’s life. We provide rights literacy to combat court bias, referrals for mental health therapy, and direct access to community resources. We believe that a father’s love is essential, and we are here to ensure that financial struggles never cost a man his family
